On January 10th, the Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party of MiamI-Dade County approved a measure that will hopefully start a chain reaction throughout Florida and result in the positive education of Libertarian Party leaders on economic, political, and social philosophies.
The program directs the Executive Director's Office to launch a library that will be made of libertarian literature and that shall be housed in the affiliate's headquarters in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami.
That's right. We approved, unanimously, the creation of the first Libertarian library in Florida.
So far, the program is expected to be small. Books and shelves will be donated to the party and the lending policy will only be extended to Precinct Delegates themselves -which should be an encouragement for libertarians to join us and become part of the Libertarian Party of Miami-Dade County.
But now that it has started, the possibilities are infinite. Donations may be raised in the future to rent a new office space to just house a library. Donations may be raised to purchase rare and good books and more advanced furniture. We may very well expend the program online, to create a depository of large PDF files.
Having a library is a great step toward the policy of having our affiliate become, as Delegate Marc Golob once said, "Grand Central Station of all things libertarian in South Florida."
Thanks to this, our leaders will now be given the tools to defeat anyone in a debate.
