Today, the Libertarian Party of Miami-Dade County received a generous contribution from Sacha and Abigail DuBearn, to be exclusively dedicated to recruiting candidates and winning local elections in 2017.
The DuBearn family has been a longtime benefactor to Libertarian causes in the past, being early supporters of Gary Johnson in 2012 and 2016, and to the Adrian Wyllie campaign for Governor in 2014.
The $1,000 gift will be used by the Elections Committee to prop up the slate of Libertarian candidates expected to run in this November's Coconut Grove Village Council elections.
On behalf of the entire Libertarian Party of Miami-Dade County, which you helped create in 2012, thank you. We will make you proud.
Last night, the Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party of Miami-Dade County voted unanimously to launch an offensive in Coconut Grove ahead of this November's local elections.
The formula is simple. There will be 9 open seats, and every candidate will run on the same ballot. The top nine vote-getters will earn a position on the Coconut Grove Village Council. Statistically, it'll be easier to win than to lose.
We need to recruit, as soon as possible, candidates that will run for the Village Council. If we can get a simple slate of 5 Libertarians from that area, we'll control a majority of the Council in November.
For that effect, we approved a budget of $1,000. Thanks to our negotiations and networking victories, we've estimated that figure will be enough to run successful campaigns. Last year, $300 got us 5 Libertarian elected officials in different similar boards.
And that's where you come in.
I need you to donate. If we can raise the $1,000 within the next week, we'll be able to launch a real offensive in Coconut Grove. Starting now will allow us to be ahead of any other local campaign.
Donate. We need to seek the momentum now.
The Miami-Dade County Libertarian Executive Committee held a meeting on Tuesday, May 9th at its headquarter in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami.
Here is a quick summary of what we managed to accomplish during that meeting:
