The Libertarian Party of Miami-Dade County's Lobbying Committee is proudly announcing major work on reforming the way Community Development Districts operate in the State of Florida.
These districts, also known as CDDs, are special taxing districts that operate with elected boards and shady procedures that benefit major developers. The Libertarian Party has made reforming and abolishing these CDDs a priority for its activities in 2016 and 2017 and has already elected three Libertarians on these boards.
Now, it is announcing major work with the office of Democratic State Senator Jose Javier Rodriguez to introduce legislation that the party's Lobbying Committee worked on with Marialexandra Garcia and Dennis Misigoy, two Libertarian elected officials in Miami-Dade County.
The reform proposal, negotiated by the State Senator's office and Executive Director Pierre-Alexandre Crevaux, includes several points, including:
The bill is currently being drafted. If it passes the Legislature in Tallahassee, it will be one of the most important reform of special taxing districts in Florida in recent history.
